Acne is caused when the hair follicles ( or pores) on the skin become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. This collection of trapped oil and dead skin cells (follicular plug) become a breeding ground for the bacteria that causes acne, Propionibacterium Acnes or P. Ances. As the bacteria grows in the plug, infection and inflammation follow causing acne outbreak.
