The
Erbium Laser
The Erbium laser provides a safe and accurate method of restoring softer and
smoother skin. Patients can have their procedure performed in the office and
be home within a few hours.
Erbium
laser skin resurfacing is a procedure specifically
designed to remove superficial and moderately
deep skin irregularities layer by layer,
with excellent control of the depth of treatment.
This laser produces less heating of surrounding
tissues than the traditional CO2 laser used
for resurfacing. Most cases require only
a local and topical anesthetic.
What
are the benefits of Erbium laser skin
resurfacing?
- Erbium
laser skin resurfacing is a safe, reliable,
out patient procedure.
- Skin
resurfacing with the Erbium laser can be
performed with local or topical anesthesia
in many cases.
- Resurfacing
with the Erbium laser produces fewer unwanted
side-effects and complications.
- Erbium
lasers can sometimes be used on the neck,
chest and hands.
- With
the Erbium laser it is often possible to
treat darker pigmented skin tones.
- Treatment
with the Erbium laser produces minimal
heating and burning of surrounding tissue.
- Healing
is more rapid because the Erbium laser
causes minimal redness, swelling, and bruising.
Erbium
laser skin resurfacing is a procedure specifically
designed to remove superficial and moderately
deep lines and wrinkles on the face. The
Erbium laser produces less heating or burning
of surrounding tissues than other lasers
used for resurfacing. This allows your doctor
to gently and comfortably vaporize the damaged
skin cells layer by layer. Recent studies
have shown that the Erbium laser stimulates
the production of collagen, creating a tightening
and smoothing of the skin.

1540
Fractional Resurfacing
Palomar
developed and patented Fractional Laser
technology to create a revolutionary treatment:
non-ablative skin resurfacing* without
downtime. The Palomar Lux1540 Fractional™ laser
is the latest generation in skin resurfacing
techology. It smooths fine lines and wrinkles,
and improves skin discoloration, without
downtime. |
The
Palomar™ laser is an advancement over the
Fraxel® laser, both of which work by treating
only a portion of the targeted skin at a time.
The Palomar 1540 Fractional™ laser delivers
light in an array of microbeams. These microbeams
penetrate below the epidermis and into the dermis,
sparing tissue surrounding each microbeam from
damage. The tissue within these beams initiates
a natural healing process that accelerates the
formation of new, healthy collagen and the fractional
treatment of the skin allows for faster healing
with no down time. The result is visible improvement
in skin color, texture, tone, fine lines and wrinkles.
Palomar™ 1540
fractional skin resurfacing treatments are effective
only when performed in a series of sessions because
each session treats only 20 to 25 percent of the
skin. By treating micro-island of skin, the surrounding
untreated skin drives the healing process, filling
in the treated area with healthy, more youthful
looking skin. The "fractional" treatment
of the skin creates radiant skin without the down
time associated with traditional skin resurfacing
technologies.
Throughout
the process, the integrity of the skin is maintained,
which protects the tissue from infection as it
heals. At left: Cross-section of treated skin.
High
Efficacy, No Downtime
The Palomar Lux1540 offers greater energy per microbeam, and greater depth
of penetration (up to 1 mm) than any competing device. This
stimulates quick healing within the surrounding deep tissue for the most effective
deep corrections. In addition, the Lux1540 delivers uniform microbeam penetration,
a consistency that can't be matched by systems that use a scanning approach.
Safety
and Comfort
The Palomar Lux1540 delivers its microbeams in one short pulse at a time with
active contact cooling. This allows the treatments to be significantly more
comfortable than the Fraxel or systems that deliver beams over longer periods
of time. The Palomar Lux1540 does not require anesthesia nor dye application,
making it a more pleasant and easier stretch mark removal treatment for the
patient.
