Acne treatment and prevention - Clear face girlIntense Pulsed Light (IPL)
StarLux® with or without ALA (Amino Levulnic Acid)

Although acne can often be managed with medications, more often people are turning to laser treatments as adjunctive treatments.   This can often help reduce the need for oral medications and reduce the appearance of facial scars as a result of acne.

The Aesthetic Laser Center & Medi-Spa has had much success treating patients who are struggling with acne.   One treatment we use is light treatment aimed at attacking acne at its root.

The technology we employ is the StarLux® IPL system.   It is one of the most powerful light systems in the world and is FDA-approved for acne treatment.

System Helps Clear Current Acne and Prevent Future Acne

The StarLux® light system uses optical filtration to send light through the skin that is of specific wavelengths for both killing acne bacteria and drying up overactive oil glands.  The system emits blue light in the 400-420nm range that is ideal for absorption by porphyrins.   This destroys acne bacteria and helps quickly clear current acne breakouts.    Longer, infrared wavelengths target the hyperactive sebaceous glands and slow down their metabolism helping prevent future acne formation.

Because the light is specifically tuned for acne, the results are often visible sooner than medication treatments.   It is possible to go right back to work or class after treatments as the system does not damage tissue and there is no recovery time.

We combine laser acne treatments with other non-invasive procedures and home acne regimens to optimize results.

The FotoFacial protocol comprises a series of treatments using specific light parameters to achieve dramatic improvement in sun damage, flushing, redness and broken capillaries. All patients observe smoother skin with visible improvement in irregular pigmentation, fine wrinkles and large pores. Flushing, redness and symptoms of rosacea improve on average more than seventy-five percent following treatments.

Each treatment takes approximately twenty minutes and requires no anesthesia. Patients are able to return to full activities immediately after the procedure. Maintenance treatments are usually required for best long-term results.

Although acne can often be managed with medications more often people are turning to laser treatments as adjunctive treatments. This can often help reduce the need for oral treatments, as well as reduce the appearance of facial scars as a result of the acne.

A series of 3-5 treatments spaced 1 month apart for maximal benefit.

Call us if you are interested in this non-invasive procedure with minimal downtime. The Starlux® device is an FDA-approved light system that uses optical filtration that has been specifically designed to allow blue light in the 400-420 nm range, as well as emitting in the 300-670 nm range, providing visible light therapy for acne by targeting multiple chemical peaks in porphyrins produced by P. acnes. Likewise, longer infrared wavelengths emitted through the handpiece target sebaceous glands. We combine this laser acne treatment with other non-invasive procedures and home acne regimens, such as acne skin care products, to optimize results. Pulsed Light Rejuvenation/Laser Light was designed to combat the effects of aging and damaged skin in a softer, gentler way. The redness and flushing of rosacea can be reduced 70 to 90 percent. It can be used to treat the full face, neck, chest and even the hands. Using the advanced Pulsed Light/Laser systems, your doctor gently delivers precise amounts of light energy through your skin's surface. Treatments are spaced out at about three or four week intervals.
